The three-day conclave of Telugu Desam Party -- Mahanadu -- would commence at Gandipet in Hyderabad today. The party meeting coincides with the birth anniversary of TDP founder and former Chief Minister and actor-turned-politician NT Rama Rao who had founded the party on May 28.
A number of key issues including developing the TDP into a national party, setting up the party units in neighbouring states and urging the Centre to grant special category status to the state will come up for discussions during the various sessions of the convention. Another important event during the conclave would be formation of a party central committee headed by party chief and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu besides state committees of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh party units.
