Around 5,000 Hyderabadis hit the streets to support the empowerment of girl children at the recently held 5k and 10k runs.
The 'Run for Girl Child' event was organised in Hyderabad by a non profit Seva Bharathi, to promote awareness about the 'Kishori Vikas Yojna', the initiative of the Ministry of Women and Child Development that seeks to empower adolescent girls.
During the flagging off of the run, Raghunath Veerabally, general secretary of Seva Bharathi, said, "This run is aimed at adding 400 Kishori Vikas centres to the existing 100 centres in various parts of Hyderabad.
