It has taken 17 years for Bangladesh to come to Indian soil for a Test series. It is only a one-off affair, but Bangladesh could well be the toughest competition India might get in the long 13-match home season.
While the challenge of England and New Zealand were brushed aside rather easily by the Indians, there remains a big question of how well the Australians will cope in spinning conditions.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, are on the rise. Despite losing the two-match series against New Zealand, they displayed glimpses of giving the hosts a tough competition. While their game in seam-friendly conditions still needs to be sharpened, in spinning conditions they are a far more potent as an outfit, with no better testimony than their series-leveling show against England at home.
Shakib, most experienced player in bangladesh team said that the challenge for Bangladeshi spinners will be to contain the Indian batsmen, who have looked to dominate the touring spinners. "You also need to think that they play spin well," he said. "I think they are the best in playing against spin, so it will be a big challenge for us. If we can do well here it will boost our confidence for the Sri Lanka series."
