India beat England by three wickets in the first of the three ODIs in Pune on Sunday. Chasing 351 to win, India looked down and out at 63 for four with Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni already dismissed.
Skipper Virat Kohli (122) and local boy Kedar Jadhav (120) put together 200 for the fifth wicket and eventually crossed the line in the penultimate over with Hardik Pandya scoring an unbeaten 37-ball 40 to close the chase down. Joe Root top scored for England with 78 while opener Jason Roy scored a belligerent 61-ball 73.
