Elections to civic bodies including the pivotal Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) are underway in Maharashtra. Voting is being held for a total of ten major civic bodies, including the cash rich Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.
The BMC polls are being dubbed a 'mini assembly' elections and are being seen as a referendum on Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The results of the same will be announced on February 23, it is called the richest civic body in the country having a budget of over Rs 30,000 cr. For the first time, BMC election is witnessing a fight between Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena, other parties fighting along are Congress, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and Nationalist Congress Party.
