The Chief Minister of Nagaland T R Zeliang resigned in the face of revolt by his own partymen. The MLA's of NPF  who were supporting the tribal groups agitating against Government, the MLA's withdrew support to the government.

With the situation getting out of control Zeliang announced his resignation. NPF is slated to elect new legislature leader later. It is a  known fact that the Nagaland tribal action committee started agitation against the decision of the Zeliang for reservation of 33% seats in the local body polls.
