Pictorial health warning on packages of tobacco products will become bigger from April 1 next year. A notification to this effect was issued by the Health Ministry saying that all tobacco products will carry warnings covering 85 per cent of the package area from April 1 next year, up from 40 per cent at present.This came a day before a hearing on this matter is scheduled to take place in the Rajasthan High Court.
Finance minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday welcomed the Reserve Bank’s decision to cut the key interest rate by 0.5%, nudging banks to transmit the benefit to borrowers to boost investments in the economy. The rate cut, he said, will reduce the cost of funds and help economic recovery.
Air India could soon be operating the world's longest nonstop commercial flight. The airline is planning to link the IT hotspots of India and US — Bengaluru and San Francisco — which are almost 14,000 km apart. At present the longest nonstop commercial flight is operated by Australian airliner Qantas between Dallas Fort Worth in the US and Sydney which is a 13,730 km journey.
